Admissions information
We are always happy to make an appointment to show you around our school and discuss what we can offer your child. We do recommend this, as you are able to raise issues that are important to you in making this important decision.
Our Nursery welcomes applications from a wider area than the school’s reserved area, if places are available. Where the number of applications exceeds the number of available places the priority goes to children in catchment. Priority may also be given to children in a number of different categories, which are published in the school’s Admission Policy.
Children are admitted to the Nursery from the September of the academic year in which they become four. Applications for the nursery can be made after your child’s first birthday. Please make an appointment to look around and obtain a form from the office or download one here. This will need to be returned with your child’s birth certificate. If there are available places children may be admitted through the year.
Important - Attending our Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school.
The admission number for the main school is 60. Children are admitted full time into two Reception classes. All children living in the school’s reserved area and naming this school, as their first choice will be admitted if places are available.
Applicants from outside the area, who name this school as their first choice, or other applicants who do not name this school, as their first choice will be admitted if places are available. If applications exceed the number of places available the County Council will consider them in the light of the Admissions Policy. Please contact the school if you would like more information .
Part of our catchment area is George Green. There is a coach that will bring the children from this area to school- this is only available from the term in which they reach their fifth birthday. Parents or guardians should apply to County for a bus pass. Forms are available in the school office.
When you receive the offer of a place, there is an induction programme, which supports you and your child with their introduction to school life. As part of this programme meetings are held for parents of new Reception and Nursery children during the summer term before they start. There are also visits to the new Reception and Nursery class enabling yourself and your child to begin to get to know the staff and the environment. At the beginning of the Autumn term the Reception children begin by staying for just half a day for the first two weeks and then build this up to staying full time by week three or four. We also offer Home Visits and family ‘Stay and Play’ sessions at the beginning of the Autumn term.
