End of Summer Term  Newsletter

 12th July 2019

Dear Parents,

As we enter the final week and a half of the summer term it is a chance to reflect on some of the exciting events from the past year. There have been many highlights over the year, including our various themed weeks – ‘Reading Week’, ‘Science Week’, ‘Creative Week’, ‘World Week’ and ‘PE Week’!

The children have enjoyed many trips and visitors during the year and on every occasion their behaviour has been excellent.

Each year group will have performed in a theatrical and musical production during the year and these have all been wonderful! Our Year Two’s finish the year with what is anticipated to be an exciting performance of ‘Pirates and Mermaids’ next week! It is so important for all our children to have these experiences as part of their learning. It supports the development of confidence, language and team work amongst many other skills.

The children have also achieved extremely well in the End of Key Stage 1 SATs. The results are attached to this letter. Please also find on the reverse of this letter the holiday dates for the next academic year.

I am delighted to be able to inform you that the PTA Barbeque has raised an amazing total of £1912! As you know we have been raising money throughout the year for our ‘Dream Big. Read’ project. The money raising activities have included cake sales, Quiz night, a sponsored read, a pancake morning and a fabulous ‘money tree’ designed by one of our reception pupils! I am thrilled to be able to tell you that we have made a total of £5422.34!  This has been used to buy classroom story books, ERIC books and to update our entire reading scheme. The governors, staff and I would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who has been involved in supporting this project as it has been a huge success and means that the children have access to the latest and best story books and reading schemes.

Here are a few end of term reminders:

There will be a ‘Hello and Goodbye’ session on Tuesday 23rd July from 3.00-3.30pm. This is a chance to pop into the classroom to say goodbye to current staff and then visit your child’s new classroom to say hello to next years staff.

Leavers Disco: Our Year Two leavers disco will take place on Tuesday 23rd July from 4.30-6.00pm. This is our treat to the Year Two children and a reward for all their achievements while they have been at Iver Heath Infant School and Nursery.

Leavers Assembly: Our Year Two Leavers assembly will take place on Wednesday 24th July at 9.15am. All Year Two children’s parents are invited to attend.

We break up for the summer holidays at 1.45pm on Wednesday 24th July. We return for the autumn term on Wednesday 4th September.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say Goodbye and Good Luck to our children and their families who are leaving us this summer and we look forward to welcoming new families into our school in September.

I would also like to wish everyone a very happy summer holiday!

Yours sincerely

Mrs J Baker
