Forest Schools

We are proud to be a ‘Forest School’ and the children in the Reception classes take part in Forest School sessions throughout the year. Children in Years One and Two will have Forest School sessions every other half term during our Fantastic Friday afternoons.

Forest School is the name for an approach to educating children in the outdoors environment on a regular basis. Work will support the main curriculum and will have a strong emphasis on raising all children’s self-esteem and independence. An integral part of the Forest School experience is that children will experience the outdoors in all weathers, with the exception of very high winds and thunder storms.

Forest School activities teach the children about caring for, managing and understanding the woodland environment.

The sessions are run by our specially trained Forest School Leaders  Mrs Purdy and Mrs Burger and our Forest School Assistants, Miss Baranyai and Mrs Walters. The children attend Forest School in groups of just 15. The sessions take place here at school or at our satellite site in Iver Heath Junior School.
